Kelly Clarkson proved herself to be the Dallas Cowboys biggest fan during the lead NFL honors Thursday.
The singer, who was the first female host of the awards show, appeared on stage in a jersey dress.
The long-sleeved American Idol alumni dress flowed into a long train of gray, white, and blue fabric, the colors of the Texas team.
Not only did the bra bore the silver number “88” in honor of Drew Pearson’s wide receiver, but the names of four more players cascaded down the front.
Fans of the 40-year-old expressed mixed feelings about her sporty look via Twitter.
“Kelly Clarkson in a Dallas Cowboys dress with a full ass?! I KNEW I LOVED THEM! QUEEN FR” – enthused one of the users.
“The Kelly Clarkson version of this dress will be worn by fans of all 32 NFL teams,” added another.
“I love her dress if only it was burgundy and gold with the names Terry, Jahan, Taylor, Jon Allen and D-Payne!” the third made a joke, referring to the commanders from Washington.
One fan compared the “Kelly Clarkson Show” host to Cinderella, writing, “Instead of going home by midnight, she needs to be home by round two.”
Everyone seemed to agree that the songwriter, who initially appeared on the red carpet in a tracksuit-inspired Adidas x Gucci dress, made a splash at her concert as host.
“I’m very proud to be the first [woman to do this]”, winner of the Grammy Award he told Entertainment Tonight same day. “It’s a really great thing.
“It’s a heavy burden to bear because I know it’s there [are] generally a lot of women across the industry,” continued Clarkson. “I was like, ‘Man, I want everyone standing there with me. But I will protect them.”
The “Since U Been Gone” singer noted that 2022 was “actually the year [she] she really got interested in soccer with her friends and sisters.
After Thursday’s ceremony, Clarkson he told his Instagram followers that she “had a good time” hosting.
The American Music Award winner helped recognize the league’s top players, performances and stage performances, and wowed viewers with a parody performance of a Tom Brady song featuring quarterback Kirk Cousins.
